Known for its picturesque beaches and incredible historic landmarks, the Dominican Republic is among the top 5 most beautiful countries in the world.
Looking for the perfect place to spend your coveted vacation time? Check out the Dominican Republic, a Caribbean island recently listed among the most beautiful countries in the world.
Prestigious travel magazine Conde Nast just released its list of the 40 most beautiful countries. The Dominican Republic took 5th place, just after Austria and New Zealand.
“You’ll be hard-pressed to find a Caribbean island with as much action as the Dominican Republic,” the magazine assured. Whether that action involves snorkeling in colorful coral reefs, or traipsing through endless jungle is up to you.
Most beautiful places in the Dominican Republic
In case you’re wondering what makes this Caribbean island so beautiful, take a look at some its most breathtaking treasures:
Los Haitises National Park

Tucked away on the island’s northeast coast, Los Haitises National Park is like a well-kept secret. A far cry from the busy beaches of Punta Cana (which is also incredibly beautiful), the park is peaceful, solemn, and simply magical. You’ll be bewitched by its mysterious sinkholes and caverns, and stand in awe at the sight of its majestic conical hills and limestone plateaus.
Playa Bonita

Perfect for strolling and relaxing, Playa Bonita is the summary of all of the Dominican Republic’s gorgeous beaches. There is signature soft sand, crystal waters, and plenty of seashells and driftwood to take home as souvenirs. Just a few minutes from town, the entire sandy stretch is lined with restaurants and hotels. However, they’re not close enough to ruin the magic of this aptly-named piece of paradise.
Three Eyes National Park

This national park is bursting with breathtaking lakes (the “three eyes”) scattered among limestone caves. Take a guided tour and learn the history of the park. In addition, your guide may tell you mysterious stories surrounding the natural landscape, and even provide a boat ride across a lake.
Plaza España

Close to the historic Alcazar de Colon, you’ll find Plaza España, a quaint yet bustling square filled with fascinating statues and picturesque historical buildings. It was the main town square in colonial times. Today, concerts and fairs often take place there. Stroll around, get a bite to eat, and take a few instagram-worthy pics! In addition, you can visit the nearby Royal Dockyards Museum, the Palace of Communications, and the Reserve Bank.
