Find out which Caribbean country has been named the Caribbean travel destination of the year by Caribbean journal’s Caribbean Travel Awards!
Islands like Puerto Rico and St. Martin have rebuilt after the devastation of the 2017 hurrikaanikausi, and have bounced back to become popular destinations once more.
But the title of Caribbean travel destination of the year goes to an island that many prospective tourists may never have heard of. Thanks to its excellent new marketing strategy (of which singer Shaggy has played a part) and the construction of several new resorts, this dual-island nation is gaining international recognition.
Caribbean travel destination of the year: Antigua ja Barbuda
Caribbean Travel Awards has named Antigua ja Barbuda as the Caribbean travel destination of the year for 2020. Known for its luxurious boutique hotels and private villas, Antigua and Barbuda lies east of Puerto Rico and to the north of Guadeloupe. It is one country consisting of two main islands, plus several smaller ones.
Antigua has always been the place to go for henkeäsalpaava, untouched beaches. They are the kind of white-sandy shores that people gush about for days after visiting them. Some of the best are Ffreyes Beach (sijalla #1 destination in Antigua in Trip Advisor), Darkwood Beach, and Coco Beach.
A shortage of big, noisy oceanside resorts means that these beaches are much cleaner and peaceful than most popular rannoista Karibialla.
In addition to beaches, Antigua also boasts intriguing koralliriutat, affording plenty of top-knotch snorkeling and diving opportunities. Don’t miss Antigua Sailing Week, a competition that draws thousands of tourists and locals every year, and the lively Carnival celebrations each August.
Antigua and Barbuda has something for everyone– hiking enthusiasts included. One of the most astounding views in the country can be seen from hiking up Shirley Heights, Antigua.
