Despite its small size, there are plenty of things to do in Sint Willibrordus, Curacao! Tucked away on Curacao’s northwest coast, this town is home to some amazing beaches, one of which is renowned worldwide! The following places and activities just might be what you’re looking for to make your Caribbean vacation complete…
Bask on Cas Abao Beach
This incredible beach is so perfect, it made it on the National Geographic’s list of the top 21 beaches worldwide. And that’s not surprising, considering this beach has some of the whitest sand you’ll ever see, plus calm, crystal-clear water and great snorkeling. In addition, you won’t have to dive in too far to frolic with tropical colorful fish.
Palapas offer some shady spots, and chairs and umbrellas are available to rent. However, there are a few things to keep in mind if you go: the beach charges a small entrance fee, and you’ll need water shoes to explore certain rocky areas.

Relax on Playa Porto Marie
This beautiful beach offers even more great snorkeling spots, and is known for its abundance of colorful fish. Its turquoise waters are crystal-clear, allowing you a spectacular view of the sea life below. Friendly iguanas roam around on the sand, and the occasional pig has been seen swimming in the shallows.
Like Cas Abao beach, the sand is white and soft; perfect for a sunny (or sunset!) barefoot stroll. However, you will need some water shoes for the rocky spots in the water.
Some even say that Playa Porto Marie is a better choice than Cas Abao beach, especially if you’re looking for less-crowded, more secluded shores. (Cas Abao beach is more frequently visited by tourists arriving on cruise ships).

Visit Landhuis Jan Kok
Besides relaxing at the beach, are there other things to do in Sint Willibrordus, Curacao? Of course! You can visit a unique old plantation house called Landhuis Jan Kok. In the 1600s, The West Indian Company harvested salt in the salt flats nearby for the herring industry in Holland.
Today, the plantation house is an art gallery filled with the works of Nena Sanchez, a former Miss Curacao. She was one of the island’s most famous residents, thanks to her artwork.
Nearby the plantation, you might catch a glimpse of some flamingos! Sint Willibrordus is very close by a flamingo sanctuary.
Tour the famous church of Sint Willibrordus
This lovely cathedral ‘s bright salmon siding stands out in stark contrast to the lush green trees of the valley. Even if you don’t wish to have a look inside or attend mass, it’s worth a gander if you’re passing through. Snap a few photos, and if you can, ask a local to tell you a bit about the church’s fascinating history.
