Roller coasters, water slides, fried food and ice cream– what’s not to love about theme parks? They’re fun for the whole family, and can be even more thrilling when they’re in the tropics. Check out the 10 best theme parks in the Caribbean below, and incorporate one or two into your next vacation!
1. Aquaventure Atlantis (Bahamas)
A winner of a 2017 Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice award, this popular park and resort has brought Caribbean fun to families since 1999. It’s a huge, 141-acre water park using over twenty million gallons of water. It has earned plenty of accolades over the years, and is currently one of the largest waterparks in the Eastern Hemisphere. According to the Aquaventure website, attractions include “Atlantean-themed towers with high-speed water slides, a mile-long river ride with rolling rapids and wave surges, 20 swimming areas, a spectacular kids water-play fort and 11 refreshing swimming pools.” This is the perfect park for everyone, both young and old.
Know Before You Go
- You must be at least 48 inches tall to ride water slides. Shorter guests can enjoy an area just for them called “Splashers”.
- Lockers are available to rent. It’s a good idea to store your belongings in them. However, bring your water shoes or sandals along, as the pavement between slides and attractions can get hot.
2. Kool Runnings Adventure Park (Jamaica)

The Kool Runnings Adventure Park in Jamaica has been recognized both nationally and internationally for its high standards and wide variety of activities. The park has everything from rafting, to water slides, to paintball! As Jamaica’s largest water park, it offers a host of activities, plus events like movies under the stars and tie-n-dye weekends.

- The park offers many different package options, with discounted admission for families of 4 or more. Toddlers under 2 years of age can enter free!
3. Bavaro Adventure Park (Dominican Republic)

This large adventure park in Punta Cana features ziplines, wet ziplines, a climbing garden, a waterfall pool, paintball, zorbing, horseback riding, a bungee dome, and much more. There’s also a flight simulator that takes 3 people up in the air at a time, to see 360 degree panoramic views of the jungle below. Get your adrenaline pumping with off roading tours through the forest or by the sea. Depending on what you want to do and see, there are many pricing options available.

- This park is most suitable for those who like outdoors, adventurous activities.
4. Ocean World (Dominican Republic)

This wildlife theme park in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic has water slides, sea lions, and sharks. However, the park’s main attraction is swimming with dolphins. Ocean World also offers night entertainment. The park’s Bravissimo Show has been rated the #1 show in the country.

- You can get free roundtrip transportation to the park from nearby hotels.
- If you book a royal dolphin swim, you get a free sea lion or shark encounter (subject to availability.

5. Surf n Fun Water Park (Puerto Rico)

Located on the southeast side of the island of Puerto Rico, this water park was inspired in the natural beauty of the Caribbean. A lazy river will take you slowly down a relaxing route, or you can test your surfing skills at the surf simulator. Other attractions include rock climbing and rappelling walls, boats, and trampolines.

- You can bring a group to the park to get a discount. They also offer birthday party packages.
- A day pass costs only around $20, with discounts for seniors and handicapped guests.
6. Five Islands Amusement Park (Trinidad)

Five Islands is an amusement park in Trinidad with a skating park, mechanical rides, trampolines, arcade, ropes course, and more. A water park is currently under construction (as of 2019).

- Admission prices vary by height. Kids under 36″ get in free!

7. Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park (Puerto Rico)

Carabalí is a large adventure park located at the foothills of the El Yunque rainforest of Puerto Rico. It features ATV and UTV excursions, horseback riding through the forest or on the beach, go-kart racing, and delicious cuisine at the Carabalí Bar & Grill.

- This park gets very popular during the tourist high season (winter), so be sure to book ahead of time.
8. Splash Island Water Park (St. Lucia)

Splash Island Water Park in St. Lucia is the Caribbean’s first floating water park. It’s completely inflatable, and consists of a trampoline, climbing wall, monkey bars, a swing, a slide, hurdles, double rocker, flip, and water volleyball.
Know Before You Go
- Guests must be at least 6 years old and at least 3.5 feet tall to enter the water park.
- All guests must wear a life vest irrespective of their swimming abilities.
9. Splash Park Aruba

Splash Park in Aruba is similar to Splash Island Water Park in St. Lucia. It is an inflatable, floating water park located just off Surfside Beach. The jungle gym, obstacles, climbing wall, and slides offer family fun for everyone.
Know Before You Go
- Various ticket packages are available that offer shuttle services to and from the hotel area in Oranjestad.
- All guests must wear a life vest irrespective of their swimming abilities.
- Some obstacles in the park are difficult to climb. This park is not recommended for young children and the elderly.
10. Pelican Plunge on Castaway Cay (Bahamas)

Of all the theme parks in the Caribbean, this one is this most exclusive. It is essentially a big, floating water slide and a few other attractions located on Disney’s private island in the Bahamas called Castaway Cay. You’ll only have access to it if you book a Disney Cruise with a stop at Castaway Cay.
