Fitts Village History
Located in St. James Parish, Fitts Village takes its name from Benjamin Thomas Fitt, who once owned this tract of land in its entirety. As other Barbadians began to settle in the area, a fishing village sprang up. Due to its proximity to the western coast of Barbados, fishing still thrives in this town today.
Little by little, the Fitts family sold properties and land to others, and what was once a small fishing village became a lively town with schools, churches, and rumshops. Today, Fitts Village retains its quaint appearance, but also thrives on tourism, offering visitors some of the best rental accomodations in Barbados.
